For this project we had a customer with special needs regarding combined pipes. The customer had a project in which a concrete bicycle shed was built in the water next to Amsterdam Central. Special combined pipes were needed with 2 functions; as protection and as foundation.

To be able to fulfill these functions, pipes of 28.1 meters long were designed with a diameter of 1420 mm. Hereby the combined pipes serve as foundation for a promenade that will be built around the bicycle storage.

To ensure that the combined pipes act as protection, different wall thicknesses were designed along the length of the tube. The tubes were fabricated and welded together in our own factory. The different thicknesses and corresponding lengths are:
