During bombing raids in World War II, train wagons full of oil were drained over this area. This sheet pile pit stands in the contaminated area. 

To clean the contamination, a sheet pile construction with a concrete floor is installed to create a basin. The sheet piles have been provided with 10.000 holes and the basin is filled with special grit, so the oil can run trough the holes and stays in place in the grit. Later on the oil will be disposed by pumping it away and by refreshing the grit. For this project we delivered a total of 190 tons.
