INTRA Expanding Seal used to achieve a watertight sheet pile wall with ebb and flow
During the installation of the pier in Blankenberge (Belgium) our client came to the conclusion that he wanted to make the sheet pile wall more watertight. Where he thought this would be a big problem, since the sheet piles were already installed into the ground, we only saw opportunities.
One of the main advantages of the INTRA Expanding Seal is that it can be applied into the sheet pile locks after having them installed. Since the Expanding Seal expands up to 350% of its volume when in contact with water it can be put into the locks.
For this project it is applied during ebb and when the flow started coming it expanded and therefore created a watertight seal. Our client is very pleased with the result and he highlighted the following advantages after the project was done:
- It is easy to apply;
- it is a one component product;
- and even after the piling works it can be applied.
